WWII veterans honored
France grants its highest award, the Legion of Honour, to all U.S. veterans who fought on French soil and awards 100 medals each year. The following are recipients who will be honored at 11 a.m. Saturday onboard the French destroyer Chevalier Paul at the port of Miami by Anne-Marie Idrac, French Minister for Foreign Trade; Pierre Vimon, French ambassador to the United States; Gael de Maisonneuve, Consul General of France in Miami; and Herve Boy, a French Navy Captain: Alfred Bergman, Naples; Anthony Bierylo, Naples; Richard Bogard, Naples; Kenneth Gerstenlager, Naples; Franklin Gibbens, Naples; Roy Holmstrom, Naples; Joseph Kinosky, Naples; Joseph Manoni, Naples; Ben Matthews, Naples; Herman Moulliet, Naples; Samuel Nogarp, Fort Myers; Chester Sokol, Naples; John Steffen, Naples; Albina Thompson, North Fort Myers; and Charles Woodman, Naples.
